birding with my dad
Today I went birding at a park I've never visited before, and my dad decided to join! I always enjoy adventures with him, even as an adult in my 30s.
Yellow-rumped Warbler
I wasn't sure if these photos would turn out because the bird was sitting in the shade, but it was a bright and sunny day so the photo was heavily backlit. It did end up being a little washed out, but the bright yellow leaves in the background still complement the warbler's yellow highlights.
Snowy Egret glistening in the water
This is my dad's favorite photo from the day. The way the sun hits the Egret looks almost angelic. We also had never seen an egret before, and we were struck by how large of a bird it is. And look at that beak! I would not want to be on the receiving end of that.
Northern Shoveler
I grew up with mallards everywhere so Nothern Shovelers are a beautiful and fun variety of duck for me. Also, their mouths have little filters in them.
